Infection Control

Infection controls and universal precautions protect clients and staff alike. Everyone benefits from rigorous infection control you, your dentist, and the dental team. The cornerstone in a good and safe dental practice is the element of trust. You should feel free to discuss this topic with Dr. Shroff and receive a straightforward answer.

Dr. Shroff and our entire team follow procedures recommended by several federal agencies: the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). These measures include:

  • The waiting room will no longer have a refreshment bar, magazines, or children’s toys.
  • All patients will be pre-screened prior to entering the office.
  • All patients will have their temperature checked upon entering the office.
  • Only the patient (and one legal guardian for a patient under 18 years old) will be permitted to come into the office for appointments. All other family members must wait outside.
  • All patients must wear a face mask when entering the office and while waiting in the reception area. The staff will let you know when to remove your mask.
  • Outside gloves will not be permitted inside the office and you will be asked to remove them upon entering.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available at the front desk and throughout the office for your use.
  • Our front desk staff will be diligently wiping and disinfecting high-touch surfaces.

We sterilize all reusable equipment, including dental hand pieces. We use an autoclave, a device that kills bacteria and viruses by steam, heat and pressure.

The best defense against disease is information. The more you know, the better equipped you are to make wise decisions about your health care. The more you know about our daily procedures and policies, the more comfortable you will feel.
